Looking for a dentist in Rigby, Idaho? Rigby has good dentists of its own. Still, plenty of Jefferson County families drive up US-20 to see us in Rexburg instead. The trip takes about 20 minutes from downtown Rigby.
They usually give us one of two reasons. They need an appointment that isn’t in the middle of a work day. Or they want a second look at a treatment plan they weren’t sure about.
Dr. Craig Stout has practiced dentistry for 20 years. He grew up in Blackfoot, so eastern Idaho isn’t new to him. Family First Dental sits at 286 E Moody Rd, Suite F in Rexburg. We don’t have a Rigby office. We just try to make the drive worth it.
Most people in Rigby work somewhere else. They drive to Rexburg or Idaho Falls, then get home after five. A two o’clock cleaning means burning half a vacation day.
So we built our schedule around that. We stay open until 7PM on Tuesday and Thursday. Friday we open at 7AM. Saturday we’re here from 8AM to 1PM. Monday runs 8AM to 5PM, Wednesday 9AM to 5PM, and Tuesday starts at 10AM.
Saturday mornings book up first. If you want one, call early in the week.
Here’s the thing we hear most from new patients in this area. Someone walks out with a long treatment plan. They felt rushed. They weren’t sure they needed half of it. So they put it off for a year, and the problem gets worse.
We handle that a different way. Your X-rays and scans go up on a screen where you can see them. Dr. Stout points at the actual tooth and explains what he sees. If you’d rather have a written plan reviewed by someone new, book a second opinion consultation. You’re not obligated to switch offices.
Nobody here works on commission. You’ll hear what’s urgent, what can wait, and what we’d watch for now.
Lots of homes outside Rigby city limits run on private wells. Private wells aren’t regulated the way a city system is, so nobody tests yours for you. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare runs a free well testing program, and fluoride is one of the minerals it checks.
That matters for your kids’ teeth. Fluoride has no taste, color, or smell. A lab test is the only way to know your level. Idaho’s recommended level in drinking water is 0.7 milligrams per liter. Too little, and cavities show up faster. Too much, and teeth can pick up white spots.
Bring your well results to your visit. We’ll read them with you and decide whether a fluoride treatment makes sense for your family. If you’d rather skip fluoride entirely, we have options for that too, and we won’t argue with you about it.
Farm and shop work is hard on teeth. So is a winter of sledding at Jefferson County Lake and summer ball at the fairgrounds. We see a lot of chipped molars and cracked fillings from this area.

Two of those are worth a closer look. Dr. Stout worked in polysomnographic technology before dental school, treating sleep disorders. That background is why we build sleep apnea oral appliances in house instead of sending you to Idaho Falls. And every active patient gets free whitening for life, as long as you keep up with regular cleanings.
Missionary paperwork is its own project around here. We do missionary dental exams and get the forms back to you quickly.
We take Delta Dental, MetLife, Blue Cross, Guardian, GEHA, United Healthcare, and Principal, along with several others. Call us with your card and we’ll check before you drive over.
No insurance? We offer financing through Cherry and WellCredit. We also have in-house payment plans. You’ll get the cost in writing before we start, not after.
