Church prep materials ask future missionaries to finish orthodontic care before they serve. The published guidance mentions braces. It doesn’t spell out how removable aligners fit in. The Timeline Math
Here’s the honest planning picture:
- Most aligner cases take 12 to 18 months.
- Minor crowding and small gaps can sometimes finish in 6 to 12 months.
- Refinements at the end of treatment can add a few extra months.
That means the safe window is wide. If a mission is roughly two years out, there’s usually room to start, finish, and settle into retainers before departure. If it’s one year out, only simpler cases fit. If it’s six months out, aligner treatment probably doesn’t fit, and we’ll tell you that at the consultation.
Start With an Exam, Not a Guess
Timeline estimates only mean something after Dr. Stout sees your teeth. At a consultation, he’ll tell you whether your case is simple or complex. He’ll give you a realistic finish date. If Time Is Short
